I’m going to be honest and say Its hard to describe someone you think so much of without sounding like I’m making it up – but I have known Helen for nearly 20 years and she is one my closest friends. Helen is fun. Doesn’t matter whether that means sitting at home with a glass of red talking about significant ‘stuff’, on a weekend away in the bush (probably with some horse riding involved) or having a fun night out on the town – Helen is a woman who is at home in all of these situations. Sure – once upon a time we were all a bit younger and a bit more crazy and writing this now has brought back so many fun and silly memories - I can hear her infectious laugh in my head as I type this! Meet Helen and you will see a cheeky grin and sparkle in the eyes that she cannot hide. Helen is a great travel buddy. She is adventurous and open to different experiences and opportunities but she is also someone who has strong ties to family and close friends and her home is her haven. Something that I have to mention that I think demonstrates a lot about the kind of woman Helen is, was the way she cared for her mother over the years. Helen was the most devoted and loving daughter – she really did selflessly put her energy into making sure her mum was as comfortable, happy and as cared for as possible. These are characteristics that she has shown many times with friends as well and I think shows her integrity, thoughtfulness and capacity to love. With the more grown up stuff, Helen is hard working. She has a career and It’s been great seeing her promoted and gain new responsibilities over the years. Helen is the kind of friend that if something went wrong, I know I could call on her and she would jump to help – she is just dependable and trustworthy. That all sounds so serious that I have to say again – Helen is great company and great fun.
